Bill Caption
Relating to the establishment of the Palliative Care Interdisciplinary Advisory Council.
Fiscal Notes
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) indicates that implementation of the provisions of the bill can be absorbed within existing resources.
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
The bill would create the Palliative Care Interdisciplinary Advisory Council to assess the availability of patient-centered and family-focused palliative care and provide a biennial report to the legislature. The bill would require the executive commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to appoint the council members, organize the meetings, and provide reimbursement for travel expenses. The bill would require HHSC, in consultation with the council, to establish a statewide palliative care consumer and professional information and education program.
Vote Recommendation Notes
Creating the aforementioned advisory council neither abridges nor advances any of our liberty principles. We remain neutral on HB 1874.
