Bill Analysis

HB 1790 would amend code to clarify that a municipality cannot require firefighters or police officers who have an injury not related to the line of duty to use accumulated time or place the employee on a temporary leave if another police officer or firefighter volunteers to do the work of the injured firefighter or police officer until the employee returns to duty.

Vote Recommendation Notes

05/18/2015 We remain neutral on HB 1790 in the second chamber. The second chamber sponsor is Senator Lucio.

This bill would make mostly administrative, clerical, and non-substantive updates to current code with no discernible connection to our liberty principles, therefore we are neutral on HB 1790.
