Bill Caption
Relating to the selection process for student members of the board of regents of a state university or state university system.
Fiscal Notes
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
The bill amends various sections of the Texas Education Code as it relates to the process by which a governor may appoint a student regent. It requires all student regent appointees to submit to the application process required of the nominee's campus student government organization.
Vote Recommendation Notes
Because this bill involves a local, university-level position -- and a non-voting one, at that -- we remain neutral. HB 1256 neither affirms nor abridges our liberty principles.
