Bill Analysis

Summary: SB 1758 would establish a task force to investigate the Department of Family and Protective Services and its historically large turnover rate. The task force would be required to file a report with suggestions for how to improve the Department and retain employees.

Analysis: When state agencies hire new employees they have to spend money and time training them. It is more cost efficient to maintain employees and allow them to evolve and become more successful in their roles. If this task force reaches its goal, it will result in a more efficient DFPS that can better serve families and children. This legislation neither directly uplifts nor offends our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral.
