Bill Analysis

Summary: SB 1057 would, if the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act takes effect, establish the federal exchange as the program that is responsible for covering a qualified individual. In other words, if a Texan qualifies for both state and federal health care, the federal system is the program that will provide coverage.

Analysis: SB 1057 would ensure that the state does not waste resources with duplicative coverage if the PPACA is implemented in Texas. We support SB 1057.
