Summary: Each fall, state employees are given the opportunity to learn about the charities in the State Employee Charitable Campaign and choose which ones they wish to contribute to. HB 432 seeks to add to that list the Health and Human Services program that awards grants to public and non-profit organizations that provide assistance to domestic victims of human trafficking.
Analysis: Human trafficking is an egregious problem. One can only imagine the horrors that victims of human trafficking experience. State employees should be allowed to contribute part of their salary to help these victims. This increases individual liberty for state employees by expanding their options for making charitable contributions. For these reasons, TPPA recommends voting yes on HB 432.
