Bill Analysis

Summary: HB 3660 would require the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (commission) to conduct a study on which state agency the commission should be administratively attached to in order to reduce the commission’s cost, improve services, and lower fees. The commission is required to report on its findings to the legislature in 2014 with a proposed agency and proposed legislation to implement the change.

Analysis: HB 3360 would require the commission to propose a specific strategy of consolidation that could modestly restrain government by producing efficiencies and saving taxpayer dollars. We support HB 3360.
