Bill Analysis

Summary: This legislation require bicycle operators to have a lamp that emits a white light in the front of the bike and a lamp that emits a red light at the rear of the bike while riding at night.

Analysis: Bicycle safety is an issue of personal responsibility that does not need to be micromanaged by the state. This inhibits the free use of private property where no threat to the public exists. This legislation would impose unnecessary costs to cyclists arbitrarily. Vote NO on HB 307.
