Bill Analysis

Summary: Under current law, an individual sentenced to ten years or more or an individual prohibited from community supervision are ineligible for release on bail pending appeal. HB 1992 would require these individuals to be transferred to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice instead of the county jail.

Analysis: HB 1992 does not fall under our liberty principles. We remain neutral on HB 1992.
