Relating to reports by the Public Utility Commission of Texas on the ability of electric generators to respond to abnormal weather conditions.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
SB 985 would increase the Public Utility Commission's (PUC) oversight of electric utilities, power generation companies, municipally owned utilities, and electric cooperatives by requiring the PUC to annually review the emergency preparedness plans of these providers, determine what updates need to be made, and report these findings to the legislature on a yearly basis.
As none of our liberty principles are impacted by SB 985, Texas Action remains neutral.
