Relating to the temporary relocation of a residential child-care facility during a declared state of disaster.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
SB 863 would allow the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to authorize a residential child-care facility to temporarily relocate to a new location or provide care to one or more children at an additional location that is not stated in the facility's license application in the event of a declared state of disaster.
SB 863 gives child-care facilities the ability to move and relocate as necessary during a state disaster, therefore allowing them to continue their operations and provide needed care. This reduction in governmental regulation promotes limited government. Texas Action supports SB 863.
