Relating to healthcare provider reporting of federal money received for the coronavirus disease public health emergency.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
SB 809 would require health care institutions that received federal money for assisted health care institutions during the COVID-19 public health emergency to report the money received to the Health and Safety Commission on a monthly basis. Money received as a loan would not need to be reported. The Commission would be required to compile this information into a written report and provide it to certain members of the legislature and the Legislative Budget Board. SB 809 would enable the licensing authority to take disciplinary action against the health care provider who violates this chapter.
We recognize that state has an obligation to be fiscally responsible with public funds and understand this bill may help the state prioritize its own efforts by being aware of where federal funds are going, but since no liberty principles are impacted, Texas Action is neutral on SB 809.
