Bill Analysis

SB 799 would modify existing contract reporting requirements and spending limits for information resources technology projects that exceed $5 million and other contracts for goods or services of a state hospital operated by a health and human services agency or a state-supported living center and would make provisions for the procurement of professional services of a physician, optometrist or registered nurse.

SB 799 would require the Department of Information Resources to provide additional oversight on major information resources projects. The Health and Human Services Commission would be allowed to negotiate with and award a contract for the services to a qualified expert if they meet certain requirements in the event the commission does not receive any responsive bids for a qualified expert to review investigative findings for the necessity and quality of medical or dental care.
