Relating to the directors and administration of the Agua Special Utility District, including the grounds for removal of a director.
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
SB 630 would require the Agua Special Utility District to hold an election on the uniform election date in November of each even-numbered year to elect the appropriate number of directors for the board. It also would require that the annual board meeting in which the budget is discussed be held within the district.
The House Substitute for this bill added the following provisions: A director cannot be removed from the board for failing to complete educational training. Directors and employees of the district are prohibited from being a part of or having interests in a business that is receiving district money.
Elections provide an opportunity for citizens to make choices for how they wish government to operate, this is an aspect of limited government. Texas Action supports SB 630.
