Relating to the creation of the Moore's Crossing Municipal Management District; providing authority to issue bonds; providing authority to impose assessments, fees, and taxes.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
SB 2214 would create the Moore's Crossing Municipal Management District to "promote, develop, encourage, and maintain employment, commerce, transportation, housing, tourism, recreation, the arts, entertainment, economic development, safety, and the public welfare in the district." If authorized by a majority of voters of the district in an election, the district would be able to assess an operation and maintenance tax. The district would not be granted power of eminent domain.
SB 2214 would create a new municipal management district and give it broad authority, including the ability to levy new taxes and engage in economic development activity. Texas Action opposes SB 2214.
