Bill Caption

Relating to dates of certain elections to be held in 2022.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 1822 would revise candidate filing deadlines, primary election, dates and runoff election dates, depending on the date on which a census based redistricting plan adopted by the Legislature becomes law. The Secretary of State would have to adjust the schedule for performing official election acts based on the new election dates.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill is meant to make necessary procedural adjustments to elections for offices affected by redistricting. While this is clearly a proper function of government, we do not see a liberty principle connection to this bill so we remain neutral on HB 1822.
