Relating to authority of the governor and certain political subdivisions to regulate firearms, ammunition, knives, air guns, explosives, and combustibles and certain associated businesses during certain disasters and emergencies.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
SB 18 would amend current law to limit the authority of the governor and certain political subdivisions to prohibit or restrict the business or operations of a firearms or ammunition manufacturer, distributor, wholesaler, supplier, or retailer or a sport shooting range, in connection with a disaster and would prevent the suspension or limitation of the sale of explosives or combustibles used as components of firearm ammunition.
Texas Action supports SB 18 as it bolsters individuals' right to bear arms and limits government intervention.
