Bill Analysis

SB 1094 would allow funds from a tax-advantaged 529 plan to be applied to tuition and fees for students attending registered apprenticeship programs. This would constitute an expansion of the allowable educational uses of 529 plans.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports SB 1094 on the principle of individual liberty and property rights. The bill would grant students more flexibility in utilizing a tax-deferred education account by allowing those funds to be used for alternative educational choices.
