Relating to the Texas natural gas vehicle grant program.
The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code to broaden
qualifying vehicles for the Texas natural gas vehicle grant program to include
used natural gas vehicles as defined in the bill. No significant fiscal
implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 963 would expand the natural gas vehicle grant program to include used natural gas vehicles meeting certain eligibility requirements. Under current law, only new vehicles qualify for the program.
Texas Action opposes HB 963 which would further distort the free market by choosing winners and losers in the economy. Government should not use subsidies to influence peoples' purchasing decisions.
