Relating to the application of certain occupation-related
postsecondary educational financial aid and student loan repayment
programs.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Texas currently offers occupation-related student loan repayment assistance for participants of a handful of programs who attended qualified institutions of higher education. HB 546 would expand access to these student loan repayment programs by revising the eligibility requirements to now include students of Western Governors University-Texas.
Texas Action is neutral toward HB 546 which does not create new loan repayment programs or increase funding for existing programs.
