Bill Caption

Relating to required posting of information regarding the office of the state long-term care ombudsman and certain long-term care facilities' Internet websites.

Fiscal Notes

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 3961 would require long-term care facilities to post on their website information about the office of the state long-term care ombudsman, including information on the office's role in regulation, and contact information.

HB 3961 would allow a long-term care facility to comply with this section by posting the required information on the website of the facility's parent company, if that facility does not maintain a unique website.

These facilities would not be required to comply with this mandate if neither they nor their parent company maintains an Internet website.

Vote Recommendation Notes

HB 3961 would grow government by adding another unnecessary mandate on private long term care facilities. This is inconsistent with free markets and limited government. Texas Action opposes HB 3961.
