Relating to the transfer of certain public school students who are
children of peace officers.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 3400 would require that, by request of a peace officer who is a parent or guardian of a student and who reasonably fears for the student’s safety, the board of trustees of a school district or the board’s designee transfer the student to another district campus or to another school district.
Texas Action supports HB 3400 which supports individual liberty on behalf of peace officers and their families with respect to ensuring that children of a peace officer are not required to continue attending a school where they are not safe.
