Bill Caption

Relating to an annual audit of the independent organization certified for the ERCOT power region.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 2586 would require an annual independent audit of each independent organization certified for the ERCOT power region. The audit must examine the independent organization’s financial condition, including the organization’s budget and expenses, and the salaries of the organization’s employees and board members; and compliance of the independent organization’s assets with all applicable commission standards.

The audit results must be published on Public Utilities Commission's website and submitted to the legislature.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action remains neutral on HB 2586 as it does not impact our liberty principles.
