Relating to a sales and use tax exemption for animals adopted from or sold by nonprofit animal welfare organizations.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 2510 would make the sale of an animal by a nonprofit animal welfare organization exempt from taxation.
Currently, nonprofit animal shelters do not charge sales tax on the fee to adopt an animal. HB 2510 would expand this provision to include nonprofit animal welfare organizations. Texas Action is neutral on HB 2510.
