oppression.
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 2474 would require police departments retain complaints against police officers for at least five years after the police officer’s employment with the municipality ends and that an abstract of the complaint be created and retained indefinitely once the original complaint is destroyed.
Texas Action supports HB 2474 on the principle of limited government. Adding this level of record-keeping helps aid governmental transparency.
