Relating to the conduct of charitable bingo.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 2204 would modify existing law relating to charitable bingo to increase occasions for charities to conduct bingo, increase the number of temporary licenses that may be issued within a twelve-month period to an organization authorized to conduct charitable bingo games, authorize higher prize limits for each game of bingo, adjust or clarify the allocation of remittances related to bingo games, and redefine "nonprofit" under the code that deals with bingo.
As HB 2204 supports limited government by modestly expanding charitable bingo in Texas, which earns our support. However, we encourage the legislature to get out of the business of licensing and regulating bingo altogether.
