Bill Analysis

HB 1856 would prohibit hotels from banning the possession of firearms or ammunition by a guest when in transit from their vehicle to their hotel room or while in their hotel room.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports HB 1856 on the principles of limited government and individual liberty. While a person is staying in a hotel, their hotel room is their temporary home and they have a right to bring their possessions into the room. HB 1856 protects the second amendment rights of individuals who stay in hotels while traveling in this state.
