Bill Analysis

HB 1725 would prohibit a mail-in ballot from being counted if if is delivered in a manner not explicitly mentioned in existing law or if the ballot is deposited in an unattended receptacle other than a mailbox or common carrier receptacle.


Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports HB 1725 because it espouses the limited government and individual liberty principles by protecting Texas elections.  This bill would additional security to Texas elections by restricting how mail-in ballots, which are far more vulnerable to fraud than in-person votes, can be received and counted.
