Relating to certain regulations adopted by a governmental entity restricting the use of a natural gas or propane appliance or other system or component.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated
HB 1501 would prohibit a governmental entity from creating or enforcing a rule, ordinance, order, or other regulation that prohibits or restricts, directly or indirectly, the use of an appliance or other system or component that is fueled by natural gas or propane in the construction, renovation, maintenance, or alteration of a residential or commercial building. A government entity would also be prohibited from levying additional charges or different prices on applicants for permits for building or development for using natural gas or propane equipment.
The purpose of this bill is to prevent municipal governments from creating ordinances or rules that ban or phase out natural gas or propane hookups. Texas Action supports HB 1501 as this bill supports limited government, free markets, and individual liberty.
