Relating to requiring school districts to report management fees
under certain cooperative purchasing contracts.
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Current law requires school districts that enter into a purchasing contract valued at $25,000 or more under certain cooperative purchasing programs to document any contract-related fee under the contract and the purpose of each fee. HB 1496 would stipulate that the reporting requirement specifically pertains to management fees paid by or to the district.
It is our view that HB 1496 would clarify the intent of current statute rather than substantively amend the statute. For these reasons, Texas Action is neutral on HB 1496.
