Bill Analysis

HB 1407 would allow a licensed individual to have a visible holstered handgun in a vehicle, regardless of whether or not the holstered firearm is on the individual's person. 

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports HB 1407 on the principles of limited government and individual liberty. Many people who are licensed to carry a handgun prefer to keep their holstered firearm easily available but not on their person while driving (such as between the driver's seat and center console). A person should not be subject to prosecution for having a visible holstered handgun in their vehicle but not on their person.
