Relating to the reading and marking of a ballot by a person occupying a voting station or by the person's child.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 1300 would allow a child under 18 years of age to accompany a parent to a voting station and allow a child of 14 or younger to read and mark their parent's ballot at their parent's direction. The bill would specify that such an action would not qualify as voter assistance under current law.
As HB 1300 does not pertain to the liberty principles, Texas Action is neutral on this bill.
