Bill Caption

Relating to the continuation and functions of the Finance Commission of Texas, the Texas Department of Banking, and the Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending and to the regulation of certain financial institutions and businesses.

Fiscal Notes

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 614 would continue the Finance Commission of Texas, the Texas Department of Banking, and the Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending until 2031 and adopt several procedural changes in an attempt to increase efficiency and remove unnecessary regulation as recommended by the Sunset Commission. This includes creating training manuals, advisory committees, developing a complaint filing system, and reducing registration and occupational licensure requirements for private child support enforcement agencies and cemetery brokers respectively.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action recommends supporting SB 614 because it promotes limited government by eliminating registration requirements for private child support enforcement agencies and doing away with occupational licensing requirements for cemetery brokers.
