Relating to requiring certain institutions of higher education to issue reports on the transferability of credit.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
SB 502 would require public institutions of higher education and their respective medical and dental units to provide to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board information regarding any courses for which a student who transfers is not granted academic credit at the receiving institution. The institution must provide the course name, which institution of higher education provided academic credit for the course, and the reason why the receiving institution did not grant credit for the course.
Texas Action remains neutral on SB 502 because it does not promote or violate any of our principles.
