Bill Caption

Relating to a disclosure regarding flood coverage under a commercial or residential property insurance policy.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 442 would require an insurer that provides insurance coverage to a commercial or residential property, but does not provide flood insurance coverage, to include additional information in their policy disclosure specifically stating that the policy does not cover flood insurance and advising the policy holder to consider acquiring flood insurance separately.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Insurance companies are already required to disclose certain information to policy holders. Adding this new disclosure does not appear to be an onerous or costly new mandate. Texas Action remains neutral on SB 442 as it neither advances nor hinders any of liberty principles.
