Relating to employment protections for jury service.
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
SB 370 would expand current protections for jurors by prohibiting any employer from discharging, threatening to discharge, intimidating, or coercing an employee because the employee serves as a juror. SB 370 also expands such prohibition for the employee's attendance or scheduled attendance in connection with jury service. Additionally, an employee who is discharged, threatened with discharge, intimidated, or coerced is entitled to return to work if they give notice to the employer of their intended return.
Texas Action remains neutral on SB 370 because it does not significantly affect our liberty principles.
