Relating to the administration of the Agua Special Utility
District; creating a criminal offense.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
SB 2552 would require that directors serving on the Agua Special Utility District board of directors file financial statement and become subject to conflict of interest and nepotism laws. This bill would also disqualify any person whose relative owns or controls more than a 10 percent interest in the fair market value of a business that receives money from the district. Finally, this bill would detail prohibited and required conduct for directors and employees of the district, as well as require the district to post reports on its website showing payments made by the district on a monthly basis.
Texas Action supports SB 2552. While this is a local bill, it would add transparency and general good-government requirements to the Agua Special Utility District.
