SB 2136 would allow, in the prosecution of offenses involving family violence, certain evidence to assist the trier-of-fact in determining the nature of the relationship between the victim and defendant. This bill would expand the prior acts of family violence which the jury could consider, such as sexual assault, burglary of a habitation, and criminal mischief, among other crimes.
Texas Action is neutral on SB 2136 as it doesn't affect our liberty principles.
