Relating to security for state agency information and information technologies.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
SB 1779 would make procedural changes, establish training, and change reporting requirements in regards to security of the state's information technology. This includes authorizing the Department of Information Resources (DIR) to establish information sharing and analysis organization to provide a forum for state agencies, local governments, higher education institutions, and the private sector to share information regarding cybersecurity threats, best practices, and remediation strategies.
Texas Action is neutral on SB 1779 because it does not affect our liberty principles. That said, this does appear to be sound public policy.
