Bill Caption

Relating to the confidentiality of personal information of certain employees and contractors of the Department of Family and Protective Services.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 1494 would include caseworkers and investigators from the Child Protective Services on the list of those who can apply to have their home address, home telephone number, emergency contact information, or social security number kept confidential so that it does not appear on the Appraisal District website or the Voter Registration website.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action recommends supporting SB 1494 because it promotes individual liberty. Due to the nature of these individuals' jobs, it seems appropriate that they be exempt from these lists and free from threats and harassment that might result from their information being made public.
