Relating to the use of calculator applications in place of graphing calculators in public schools.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
SB 1453 would require schools to allow students to use a calculator application on a computing device (e.g., a personal, laptop, or tablet computer) in place of a graphing calculator if the app has the same functions as the calculator. Schools would be exempt if they provide graphing calculators at no cost to the student.
Texas Action remains neutral on SB 1453 because it does not affect our liberty principles.
