Relating to use of an electric cooperative’s easements or property for broad band service.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
SB 14 would allow an easement held by an electric cooperative to provide electricity to also be used to provide broadband service.
The bill also outlines additional requirements for the cooperatives; including for the two entities to maintain separate records, and a requirement for certain communications between the two electric entities.
Texas Action is neutral on SB 14 because it does not affect our liberty principles.
