Relating to the assessment and collection of ad valorem taxes
imposed by a school district.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
SB 1309 would prohibit a school district from employing a tax-assessor or collector, and instead centralize the assessor-collector within the county the school district is located. In effect, this bill would result in a uniform tax bill to the taxpayer.
Texas Action supports SB 1309 because it promotes limited government. This bill would simplify paying school-related property taxes as well as reduce administrative costs.
