Bill Caption

Relating to the inclusion of a magistrate's name on certain signed orders.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 93 would require that a signed order issued by a magistrate under the law or any signed order pertaining to a criminal matter that is issued by a magistrate under the Family Code, the Government Code, or other law of this state, must include the magistrate’s signature, name in legible handwriting, legible typewritten form, or legible stamp print.

Vote Recommendation Notes

While this is somewhat of a procedural issue, it should help make government more transparent and the court system more efficient by making it easier to identify the court which issued an order of the type this bill relates to. This is in alignment with limited government. We support HB 93.
