Bill Analysis

HB 76 would require schools to provide information regarding the risks of sudden cardiac arrest, electrocardiogram testing, and the option to take an electrocardiogram along with a physical to students who are participating in a UIL sport. Students would be able to request an electrocardiogram from a licensed health care provider. Schools, school districts, an employee, or the UIL would not be liable in the instance of a student's injury or death in connection to an electrocardiogram or the content or distribution of the information required by this bill or the failure to distribute such information.
