Relating to the issuance of posthumous high school diplomas to certain students.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 638 would require school districts, upon parental request, to award posthumous high school diplomas to parents of deceased students at the time of their expected graduation date. The bill would also prohibit the diploma from being given to the parents before the expected graduation date.
Texas Action remains neutral on HB 638 because it does not promote or violate any of our principles.
