HB 441 would create a taxpayer-funded subsidy for the Texas Workforce Commission to pay the cost of the administering a high school equivalency examination for individuals age 21 and older.

Texas Action recommends opposing HB 441 because it is a violation of our limited government and personal responsibility principles. It is not the responsibility of the state expend the taxpayers' money to subsidize the cost of a high school equivalency exam for adults.
