Bill Analysis

HB 387 would allow Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioners (APRN's) to practice in the same capacity as Physician Assistants' (PA's) when signing certain documents. The bill would expand the APRN scope of practice regarding the signature of a work status report which relates to an injured employee’s ability to return to work. This bill would not remove any physician oversight authority.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action recommends supporting this bill because it promotes the principles of limited government, personal responsibility, and individual liberty. This bill would expand the scope of practice for certain registered nurses and also make it easier for a patient to obtain important information.
