Relating to tuition and fees charged by The Texas A&M University System for certain national laboratory or national laboratory operator employees and dependents.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 3124 would allow the Texas A&M University system to give in-state tuition to an employee, or the dependent of an employee, who is employed by a national laboratory with which the A&M board has entered into a management and operation agreement or academic affiliation agreement. The purpose of this bill is to allow A&M to offer in-state tuition to employees or dependents of employees of Los Alamos National Laboratory. According to the bill author's office, other institutions of higher education in this state have similar arrangements.
Texas Action remains neutral on HB 3124 because it does not promote or violate any of our principles.
