Bill Caption

Relating to notice of an epizootic infectious disease occurring in an animal shelter.

Fiscal Notes

According to the Legislative Budget Board, no fiscal impact to the state is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 3092 would amend Chapter 823 of the Health and Safety Code to require an animal shelter to provide notice to each person who adopts an animal from the shelter if any epizootic infectious disease occurred in that shelter within 15 days before or after the adoption.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Although this is a new regulation, it does not appear particularly onerous for animal shelters to comply with. It makes sense to inform a person adopting a pet if their new pet may have come in contact with an infectious disease. We are neutral on HB 3092.
